The walled garden was designed by Klein to be viewed as part of the house – an outside room.
This traditional walled garden space is used as all of Yew Dell’s gardens are used – to evaluate new plant varieties for their performance in the local climate. Our goal is to test plants from across the globe and recommend the best performing and most sustainable plants for use in the local region.
The pump house in the corner of the garden served as the distribution point for spring water that was pumped up from the woods below the Castle.
This garden was rehabilitated in 2004 with generous support from the Glenview Garden Club.
