One of our constantly rotating planting gardens, each year we install new displays of spring bulbs followed by summer annuals & tropicals here in the Walled Garden. Like in the Event Lawn, uniformity and consistency is difficult with the walls creating several different microclimates! For the last five years this area has been planted entirely the same and each year the microclimates have made that year's Big Bloom bloom at different times! One side of the garden will bloom early and be nearly finished by the time the other side starts to bloom. It's an amazing opportunity for us to showcase microclimates but so frustrating! But ignoring that, our horticulture staff has installed a fun Hyacinth and Tulip underplanting for our informal evaluation planting of Camas in the bourbon barrels.
