These self-guided tour signs are placed throughout the grounds to help you discover Yew Dell’s gardens, history and hidden gems—whenever and however you choose. Whether you’re visiting for a quick stroll or a deeper dive, these signs make it easy to learn as you go.

Discover where nature, learning and beauty thrive together!

As you explore the garden, look for the orange Did “Yew” Know? signs placed at various key locations. Each code unlocks stories, science and secrets behind the history, architecture, plants, trees and unique garden features around you. This self-guided experience is designed for you to move at your own pace. Whether you’re a curious first-time visitor or a returning plant enthusiast, there’s always something new to discover.

Plan to allow at least 45 minutes to fully enjoy the tour.

Tree QR Tour

If you’re especially interested in trees, don’t miss our self-guided Tree Tour located within Yew Dell’s 8-acre arboretum. This unique experience features QR codes linked to short videos highlighting 14 of our favorite trees. Along the way, Yew Dell staff and local tree enthusiasts share insights into each tree’s characteristics and some fascinating pieces of Yew Dell history.
We recommend setting aside at least 45 minutes to enjoy the full tour.

Children's Self-Guided Activities

Looking for a fun and educational way to explore the gardens with your little sprouts? We offer a variety of kid-friendly, self-guided experiences designed to spark curiosity, imagination and outdoor discovery!

  • The Fairy Forest – Step into a magical woodland where tiny fairy houses and hidden surprises await! A favorite stop for imaginative minds.
  • Exploration Backpacks – Check out a themed backpack filled with tools, games and guides to help kids explore like real nature scientists.
  • Garden Scavenger Hunts – Follow clues, spot plants and critters, and complete fun challenges around the garden.

Most activities are self-paced and can be enjoyed in 30 to 60 minutes.
