The Holly Allee consists of two rows of ‘Klein No 1’ American Holly that Theodore trained into an evergreen tunnel. He trained the trunks to grow along lengths of bent re-bar, giving the trunks the shape you can see today.
The event lawn next to the Allee originally contained the shade house used to protect newly propagated cuttings and seedlings for the nursery. The lawn is now used for weddings and events, an important revenue source for Yew Dell.
