Volunteer

Yew Dell has a dedicated group of volunteers with a large range of skills that help at special events or in day to day activities. We would love to have you join our group of wonderful volunteers!

Whatever your skills or experience, we can find a project that could use your talent. Coming out to volunteer is a great way to meet new people, learn more about gardening, or develop a new skill. Yew Dell provides a beautiful outdoor setting to work in individually or as a group. We have opportunities that are great for novice gardeners, Master Gardeners, or even those who are not blessed with a green thumb.

Garden Volunteer- if you love being outdoors and around plants Yew Dell could always use some extra helping hands. The need in the gardens of course changes from season to season, but there is always plenty that needs to be done. Tasks include greenhouse work, weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, raking, planting and more.

Trailblazer- if you enjoy nature walks then this is the task for you. Yew Dell has over one mile of walking trails that was originally created in a combined volunteer effort. These trails need occasional attention to keep debris off the path and cut back invasive plants so they remain easy for guests to navigate.

Tour Guide Volunteer- for the history buff and/or individual who loves talking about horticulture, we offer tours for groups that are guided by volunteers. Yew Dell has a fascinating history, beautiful gardens, and lots of charm to share with guests. If you want to learn more about Yew Dell and share that information then this is the perfect task for you! (mandatory orientation)

Office Assistant- filing, data entry, mailings and special projects are also things that need to be done at a botanical garden. If you have strong organization, computer, and/or interpersonal skills we could use your help.

Special Event Volunteer- Yew Dell hosts a variety of events throughout the year for the community, fundraising, members, children, etc. If you like being a part of the hustle and bustle of a busy event or just enjoy meeting new people then you would have a blast volunteering at special events. Volunteers help with setting up and breaking down the event if you arenít much for big crowds. If you want to meet new people there is also check-in, children activities, event planning, auctions, concessions, and so much more going on. (some events have mandatory orientation)

Do you have a skill that you donít see here, but think would be a perfect fit for Yew Dell? Feel free to send your suggestion to our Volunteer Coordinator
